KlevaKiosk

Get your kiosk running on an iPad

Once you've set up your station in KlevaKiosk, you need to put the iPad into kiosk mode so clients can browse without accidentally exiting. Here are three ways to do it.

🔗

Before you start: get your Station URL

All three methods below need the URL of your KlevaKiosk station. In the KlevaKiosk dashboard, go to Stations, open the station you want to display on this iPad, and copy the Station URL. It looks like app.klevakiosk.com/s/abc123.

Free iPad kiosk app — locks your iPad to a single URL

Kiosk Pro Lite on the App Store
1

Download Kiosk Pro Lite

Search "Kiosk Pro Lite" on the App Store on your iPad, or use the link below. It's free and maintained by Kiosk Group.

2

Get your station URL from KlevaKiosk

In the KlevaKiosk dashboard, go to Stations. Open the station you want to display, then copy the Station URL — it looks like app.klevakiosk.com/s/your-station-id.

3

Paste the URL into Kiosk Pro Lite

Open Kiosk Pro Lite on your iPad. Tap the Settings icon (top right). Under "Start URL", paste your station URL. Tap OK to confirm.

4

Configure idle reset (optional)

In Kiosk Pro Lite settings, enable "Idle Reset" and set a timeout (e.g. 60 seconds). After a period of inactivity, the app automatically returns to the home gallery — helpful in a busy salon.

5

Set an admin PIN

Still in settings, set a PIN under "Settings Password". This prevents clients from accidentally exiting the kiosk app. Choose a 4-digit code and write it down somewhere safe.

6

Launch and lock

Tap "Done" to exit settings in Kiosk Pro Lite. Your station URL loads and your iPad is now in kiosk mode. Clients can browse your gallery freely — they cannot exit to the home screen.

Kiosk+ on the App Store
1

Download Kiosk+

Search "Kiosk+" on the App Store or use the link below. Kiosk+ has a free trial — a subscription is required for continued use.

2

Get your station URL from KlevaKiosk

In the KlevaKiosk dashboard, go to Stations. Open the station, then copy the Station URL.

3

Create a new kiosk in Kiosk+

Open Kiosk+ and tap "New Kiosk". Give it a name (e.g. "Front Desk" or "Station 1"), then paste your KlevaKiosk station URL as the homepage.

4

Configure navigation and home button

In the kiosk settings, disable the "browser navigation bar" so clients can't type a different URL. Set the "home button" to return to the start URL after inactivity.

5

Set a PIN

Under Security, set an admin PIN so staff can access settings but clients cannot. Kiosk+ also supports fingerprint unlock if your device supports it.

6

Activate the kiosk

Tap "Activate" or "Launch" from the Kiosk+ home screen. Your station gallery loads and the iPad is locked to that screen.

Apple Guided Access

Free · No extra app

Built into every iPhone and iPad — no additional app

1

Enable Guided Access in Settings

On the iPad, go to Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access. Toggle it on. Tap "Passcode Settings" and set a PIN — this is what you'll need to exit kiosk mode.

2

Open Safari and navigate to your station URL

Get your station URL from the KlevaKiosk dashboard (Stations → open station → copy URL). Open Safari on the iPad and paste the URL.

3

Turn on Guided Access

Triple-click the Home button (or Side button on Face ID iPads). A "Guided Access" screen appears. Tap "Start" in the top right. The iPad is now locked to Safari with your station URL.

4

Restrict screen areas (optional)

Before tapping Start, you can draw circles over areas of the screen to disable them — for example, the Safari address bar. This prevents clients from navigating away.

5

Exiting Guided Access

Triple-click the Home/Side button again, enter your Guided Access PIN, then tap "End". The iPad returns to normal use.

Making it work in the real world

📐

Mounting your iPad

A counter-top stand with a weighted base is ideal for salon stations — search "iPad counter stand anti-theft" or "iPad kiosk stand". For walls, a lockable enclosure like the Heckler WindFall mounts cleanly and covers the charging cable.

🔋

Keep it plugged in

Always run kiosk iPads on a charger. Kiosk apps and auto-brightness keep the screen on — the battery will drain quickly without power. Hide the cable with a cable cover strip or route it through the stand.

📶

Reliable Wi-Fi is essential

KlevaKiosk galleries load over the internet. Place your iPad within good range of your Wi-Fi router. If the connection is spotty, consider a Wi-Fi extender or move the router closer to the salon floor.

☀️

Screen brightness

Set brightness to around 70–80% in Settings → Display & Brightness. Auto-brightness can make the screen dim in a salon environment — turning it off gives more consistent results.
